Horse to human – new coaching experience

Lead with ease

As the old saying goes, “you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink “… well, what if a horse could lead the company to success? What if a horse could identify the top employees or make the real teamwork more cohesively and effectively?

Using horses in corporate team building can give yourbusiness leaders the chance to be authentic leaders – a leader that people will follow and trust.

Horses are sensitive beings, aware of their surroundings, and quick to react. By including horses in specially designed coaching programs, I, as a coach, have greatly multiplied the participant’s rate of success to self-discovery. Horses can’t overthink a participant’s motive, and horses can’t manipulate behavior.

As an NLP trainer and coach, I often had the opportunity to support individuals and groups in building a healthy work climate through team building, organizational culture, and leadership skills development. Sometimes, one such project required months of work. And then, through working with horses, I realized that sometimes I only need one day to achieve extraordinary results.

Horse to Human will sort out the qualities of the employees by putting the horse in the middle of the team. Horses reveal the hidden dynamics of groups so that they can effectively manage them. The horse can discern and give honest feedback as they know no other way.

Like horses, people look for strong leadership, and mutual trust and respect are only given and reciprocated once there is a solid leader to follow.

The research shows that the more engaged senses, the greater the likelihood that will retain new learning. What we learn is essential. However, what we remember is priceless. Working with horses creates a unique memory that causes the attendee to remember the training far longer than sitting in the classroom.

Usually, no riding is involved in a Horse to Human coaching sessions.  All work is doing on the ground. Participants leading the horses through a series of exercises that help give them insight into topics as:

  • The importance of being an authentic leader. How can you expect a team to follow you if you can’t lead a horse and get him to follow you?   Importantly, how can you lead others if you can’t lead yourself
  • How body language and voice tonality help you influence others.  With no words, participants need to control the horse to move using their resources, and what state they are indefinite affects the outcome.
  • Value of teamwork. In this ever-connected society, there is a real need to be plugged into the system to succeed.  Alliances and partnerships will become more commonplace, so participants learn how to contribute to a team and work towards a common goal.
  • The importance of focus and intent is that if you are not focused and know what you are doing, the horse will not follow you.

We run sessions in a group format or one-on-one depending on the client’s requirements.  Our horses are well-trained according to Parelli’s methodology, and there is no fear of harm.
